A complete interpretation of genetic and molecular results is provided for each case.   Each report is reviewed by a Knight Diagnostic Laboratories medical director with specific laboratory expertise before it is sent to the ordering physician. The report summarizes the patient’s cytogenetics, FISH, molecular genetics, or oncology test results, and may provide comments on available therapies and other relevant data, with a special emphasis on clinical utility for the individual patient.

An added feature of the oncology panels is a review of clinical trials utilizing the services of MolecularMatch.com to inform referring oncologists of the very latest, most promising treatments based on the unique genetic signature of the patient’s cancer.  Today there are almost a thousand reported compounds in experimental trials for cancer,   and this creates challenges in interpreting complex information to find best treatment options.  The search engine developed by MolecularMatch provides trial information that is tailored to the molecular characteristics of each patient’s cancer.

Knight Diagnostic Laboratory delivers reports to our clients via fax.   Please contact Client Services at (855) 535-1522 if you have additional questions.

The Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University is a pioneer in the field of precision cancer medicine. The institute's director, Brian Druker, M.D., helped prove it was possible to shut down just the cells that enable cancer to grow. This breakthrough has made once-fatal forms of the disease manageable and transformed how cancer is treated. The OHSU Knight Cancer Institute is the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center between Sacramento and Seattle – an honor earned only by the nation's top cancer centers. It is headquarters for one of the National Cancer Institute's largest research collaboratives, SWOG, in addition to offering the latest treatments and technologies as well as hundreds of research studies and clinical trials.
